I’ve always loved crocheting with my auntie as a child. I still remember the feeling of sitting together, making things with our hands, and I think part of starting Babina was wanting to find my way back to those memories.

The name Babina comes from baba, a word associated with women, grandmothers and matriarchs. I find it quite funny that a name with such a nostalgic feeling belongs to a brand making colourful, youthful bags. I like that contrast. Taking something I grew up with and giving it a new life of its own.

One of my favourite things about crochet is that you can take it anywhere. It’s a little activity that helps me slow down, unplug and enjoy doing something with my hands. But what I love just as much is how it brings people together. So I created Crochet Club as a space to make something with your hands, get chatting with the person next to you, and before you know it, make a new friend.

With Babina, I want to share all experiences of crochet: the joy of making something yourself and the joy of making it together.
